Timeline

Samuel Hannaford started a practice at age 22 on 3rd Street in 1857.

Hannaford joined Edwin Anderson and William Tinsley from 1857 mostly to compete for the Third Street Temple commission. They petitioned the city to design the new Orphan Asylum for free.

Anderson & Hannaford remained together until the end of 1870.

He worked alone from 1871 until 1874.

He joined with Edwin Procter from 1874-1876.

He was again solo from 1876 until 1887 when two of his sons joined him in the firm Samuel Hannaford & Sons.

His retirement date is debated but the official announcement date is 1905.
