Takamine guitars are made at the foot of the Takamine mountain in Sakashita in Japan; the company has been producing guitars for over 40 years. Working out the date of your Takamine guitar is easy for most models, and with the aid of a serial number you can usually pinpoint the age of your guitar down to the precise day on which it was made.
Locate the serial number on your guitar. This will be inside the sound hole, on the interior of the body. The serial number will generally be eight digits long. The serial number can be used to date the guitar on all Takamine guitars other than the G series, which do not have a simple rule that can be used to date them.
Note the first two digits of the serial number. This is the year in which your guitar was made. The Takamine company was only founded in 1962, so any low numbers will be relating to the 21st century as opposed to the 20th.
For example, serial number 07100091 indicates a guitar built in 2007 (07), in October of that year (10), and that it was the 91st guitar made that month (0091). Similarly, serial number 09050112 indicates the 112th guitar made during May 2009.
For example, serial number 46090002 indicates a guitar built in 2008 (1962 plus 46 years), in September of that year (09), and that it was the second guitar made that month (0002). Similarly, serial number 49110033 indicates the 33rd guitar made during November 2011.

This might give you some clue as to the day in the month it was made but not an accurate one ? for example, if your guitar was the 5th built that month, then it was likely to be on one of the first days of the month. But for most, the exact day of build and the sequential number it was built in that month, isn?t that important anyway.
From our example serial number we can see that this guitar would have been built in 2008 (08), in April (04) and it was the 781st (0781) guitar built that month.
Any models that were distributed in Japan, as opposed to internationally, used a slightly different serial number system. It?s still an 8 digit system and the 1st two digits still represent the year, the second two digits still represent the month, and the last 4 digits still represent the sequential order that the guitar was built in that month.
I have a Takamine which serial number is 91081276. I don?t know which model it is because there?s no label. I can say that that it?s a red burst type D. Could you guess which model is my guitar and it?s estimated price?

Hi. I just acquired a C-128 classical in nearly pristine condition. The serial number is 74502127. Not sure if the 50 was inverted or not, but if the year is accurate, then this sweet guitar would have been produced the last year before Takamine started shipping worldwide?

I have a Takamine F400 which I bought back in the 70's. It's been well taken care of. I checked my serial number and it only had 7 numbers in it. Following what was said it starts 79 which I would take is 1979 in May. Last 3 numbers is 036. However, I thought I bought it earlier than 1979. Just curious why some Takamine's only have 7 numbers.

I have a takamine f340 that I need help with the serial number that is inked onto the headstock inside the soundhole. While most takamine guitars have 8 numbers in their serial number mine only is inked 47.4.8. It does have a paper label in the sound hole much like a dollar bill that designates it as an f340. I got the guitar in the early 70s an I am wondering why it only has 4 numbers in its serial number.
I have a Takemine Accoustic/Electric with equalizer that I bought used in the mid 80s. I have never really cared what it was worth because she is my baby! However, in looking at the "logic" behind the serial numbers, I find that mine is a bit strange. Inside the sound hole is se "SEF-391-R (4BAND). Any idea when it was made?
The model number is FP 3605 (LH) and the serial number is 91042088 which I understand it was made in the fourth month of 1991. I would like to know any history on it or at least the retail value of it was new, or what it is worth today. I bought it used at a pawn shop in Reno and it is like new.
I'm also trying to find out the model of guitar i have now the name on the head stock says Granada but after taking a flash light and looking through the sound hole i found an area in the guitar near the neck that had a factory sticker that says Takamine and then the serial number 77093332. After looking up that number in some arcives i found out that the guitar was built in 1977. Does any one have any clue to the model or even the value of the guitar?

i read some of the posts regarding how to serial number is broken down, but I think there may have been some sort of change over the years. I have a ESG-45SC with serial number 60911252. this was not made in 1960, thats for sure. can anyone make anything of this serial number? i really would like to know how old it is.
:I am trying to find the model number of my guitarserial # 77111624 it has what looks like abalone inlays in the frets and at the top of the guitar it has a light finish on the front with a dark wood on the sides and back of the body I think it might be from the late 1970'sany help on this would be great thank you:
"According to the Blue Book of Acoustic Guitars, the 8-digit Takamine serial numbers have a form of YYMMDDXX, where the first two digits are the year; the second two, the month; the next two, the day; and the last two as the nth instrument made that day. If a 9-digit number, the last three digits would be the nth instrument made that day."
Thus, your guitar would be the 14th one made on December 11, 1991. :I am trying to find the model number of my guitar: serial # 77111624 it has what looks like abalone inlays in the frets and at the top of the guitar it has a light finish on the front with a dark wood on the sides and back of the body I think it might be from the late 1970's: any help on this would be great thank you: :
There are guitarsite Takamine serial numbers (for guitar). The serial number is a Takamine type 230. On Thursday, December 30, 2016, at 03:21 p.m., a post was made by Anonymous. Is there a known example of EG-230 produced from Indonesia? The model number of the model should correspond to the serial number. As you can see in hole F360S, your 1974 guitar is the 15th guitar made on October 7, 1974. Yours is built in 1974 and has a neck brace near the F100715 hole.
This method is used to see if you can find a model of Takamine I have and approximate pric using 74-10-07-15 serial numbers. What year is my takamine eg330sc model number 01214225? It was originally reported that it was 1977 at the time. I have some doubts. SEF-391-R (band) is the most commonly found in the sound hole. What is that one idea that is really the best idea ever? Takeamine 6 string guitar serial number 2020632.
This guitar is made of acoustic material with a sunburst black finish and a serial number of 80031279. Thank you very much. The serial numbers of Takamine have been changed. On Fri, May 1, 2010 at 10:31 a.m., Paul Waldsh posted a new comment. Is there a specific model of Takamine guitar that I should buy? It has a sunburst black finish, as well as a serial number of 37041153. My ESG-45SC is serial number 60911252. This item was not available in 1960, for the record. My guitar serial number is 77111624 and it has what appears to be abalone inlay in the frets, and at the top of the guitar, there is a light finish, with dark wood on the sides and back of the guitar, which I believe is a hint of the white lacquer 2b1af7f3a8
